​​MEET MIKE ADAMS
M.Eng. P.Eng., PMP

Prior to assuming his current duties as Statutory Director for the Boilers and Pressure Vessels and Operating Engineers Safety Program at TSSA, Mr. Adams' previous roles included stints at: Ontario Power Generation (Business Support Manager and Engineering Work Management System Section Manager); Fuel Cell Technologies (Director of Programs); Science Applications International Corporation (Program and Project Manager); and last, but not least, the Canadian Navy (retired Lieutenant-Commander Marine Engineer). With degrees in both Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, plus a naval first class steam operating ticket, plus certification as a Project Management Professional and, most recently, a boiler inspector Inservice Commission from the National Board, Mr. Adams brings a wealth of experience and dedication to the BPV/OE community. And loving it!

MEET Martin Lensink, P. Eng.

Principal in Charge

Martin Lensink is a Senior Mechanical Engineer who specializes in thermal power engineering, energy engineering and energy management. Martin has over 30+ years of experience in helping energy intensive customers manage energy through technology. He specializes in the development of high efficiency cogeneration systems based on combustion gas turbines, steam turbines, and internal combustion engines.

 

Martin founded CEM Engineering in 2001. Martin decided to establish an engineering consulting firm, focusing primarily on cogeneration and energy management with the goal of providing solutions to the energy and environmental sectors.  At CEM Engineering, our goal is to help our clients increase earnings by reducing energy use and energy cost. We specialize in Cogeneration and Energy Management solutions, thus our name. We provide industry specific knowledge in a small branch of mechanical engineering known as “thermal power”. Since 2001, we have grown to a firm of 42 persons. Our core competencies are in six specific areas: Cogeneration, Energy Management; Power Generation; Boilers; Biomass/Biogas; and District Energy.

 

Prior to starting CEM Engineering, Martin was the Manager of Gas Turbine projects for Toromont Energy; he served as both Regional Sales Manager and as Manager of Canadian Operations for Rolls-Royce/U.S. Turbine Corporation; he was Senior Mechanical Engineer with SNC/W.P. London & Associates; and he held a number of positions with Union Gas in Chatham, Ontario.

MEET

Frank Wagner

 

Vice President Compliance

 

Frank Wagner is the Vice President Compliance for Safety-Kleen Canada Inc., a subsidiary of Clean Harbors.  With the help of a small staff, he oversees the environmental compliance activities at 25+ hazardous waste management facilities across Canada.  This includes Canada’s largest used oil re-refinery, 4 processing facilities and 18 waste transfer facilities.  Mr. Wagner is a graduate from the University of Waterloo in Environmental Studies and Chemistry as well as from Conestoga College in Occupation Health and Safety.

 

Mr. Wagner joined Safety-Kleen in 1990 serving in various roles in environmental and health & safety compliance.  Over the years, he has developed various systems and procedures to ensure a safe compliant working environment including implementing an environmental management system in conformance with ISO14000.  Mr. Wagner is also involved in regulatory affairs activities including participating in various environmental committees of different associations, and communicating with federal, provincial and local agencies on the development of new or changing regulations.

​​MEET JOHN MARSHALL
B.A., CIGC, CFEI

John Marshall B.A., CIGC, CFEI was appointed Director, Fuels Safety Program in December 2006. His responsibilities include providing strategic direction and overall leadership and administration for the engineering and inspection functions within the program. He is also the Statutory Director for the program, appointed under the Technical Standards and Safety Act.

John has 47 years’ experience in the fuels industry. His involvement in the energy business has resulted in significant exposure to many industries, associations and regulatory authorities in both Canada and the United States. John also has extensive experience in the development of codes and standards and chaired several national committees.

John has a Bachelor of Arts degree from York University in Toronto and holds the designations of Chartered Industrial Gas Consultant from the Institute of Gas Technology in Chicago and Certified Fire and Explosion Investigator from the National Association of Fire Investigators. He is also certified as a Gas Technician and Pipeline Inspector in the Province of Ontario.

MEET
Manfred Klein is an independent consultant on a range of environment and energy issues, as well as technical training.   He retired in 2013 after 33 years in the Canadian government, most recently as with the Gas Turbine Laboratory of the National Research Council.  He spent 16 years with Environment Canada on air pollution and GHG topics, involved with CCME industrial air emissions guidelines for Gas Turbines and for Cement Kilns, using output-based environmental standards.   He also helped to develop new taxation incentives to encourage cogeneration and district energy, provided inputs to environmental assessments, and organized various industrial training functions on gas turbine systems.  Prior to that Mr. Klein was with the National Energy Board for 11 years, dealing with natural gas pipeline and compressor station construction inspection and certification.  With a Mechanical Engineering degree from Carleton University, he is a former chair of the IAGT Industrial Gas Turbine Applications Committee, and the ASME Int’l Gas Turbine Institute’s Environment & Regulatory Affairs Committee.
